Q #5 “But always remember this, Anneke. There are no walls, there are no bolts, no locks that anyone can put on your mind.”

“But always remember this, Anne. There are no walls, there are no bolts, no locks that anyone can put on your mind.” I think the true meaning of this quote is that they are basicly caged and they cant do anything about it. However, I guess Anne's father is trying to convince Anne that because they are caged, nobody will stop anything she will do.

Dear Jin Do,
I slightly agree with the idea that the families are forcefully being caged because of the threat of the Nazis. However, they aren't completely caged they are able to go out however the fear of the consequences are the action of allowing the family to be caged. But one day when the war is over the families are able to get out with freedom. But they do not know when the war will be over. Therefore, they need to keep patience making absolutely no sound.

i think that's right.. your mind is kind of trapped and you can't do anything about it but let the body do things that it wants. For Anne, she couldn't let her body do anything because she was in an Annex being scared of what would happen if something went wrong..

This quote is telling how even the circumstances around you change, the fact about who you are and your thoughts in your mind can never be changed by anyone else. In this book, Anne's family couldn't go out beyond the door because they might be caught by the Nazis. Like this, they've been controlled and are in a situation that they need to obey Nazis. But the thoughts in their minds can never be changed by anyone else, and "No locks that anyone can put on your mind" means that. I definitely agree with this statement because the control over Jews doesn't mean that their minds are also getting controlled.I'm not saying youre wrong but thats your problem , but i dont agree with you.c
